Yuletide: Dear Author Letter
Hello, author! I'm Terry; thank you for writing for me. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Following are DNWs, some general likes, and some canon-specific prompts; I hope they spark some ideas! Please don't feel obligated to write off a prompt if you have a story in mind you're more enthused about; they're only meant to be there as inspiration if you've got nothing. As ships go, I'm down for basically anything that doesn't trip over my DNWs. (I'm also probably gonna be adding to this letter up until sign-ups go out, if anyone got here early through the app!)
My AO3 is here, my art tumblr is here.
DNWs:
- Pregnancy, mpreg, etc.
- Underage ships.
- Character bashing.
- Issue fic.
- Reader fic.
Soft DNWs: (if you feel very confident in a fic concept, maybe with a few of my likes, go for it anyway!)
- Canon retellings.
- Modern setting mundane/no-magic/human AU.
- PWP (P with plot is a-okay!)
- Reincarnation AU.
- Christmas/holiday fic.
- Domestic fic for non-domestic canons.
- Relationship problems based on prolonged miscommunication or misunderstandings.
- Aged-down characters or kidfic.
Fandom nonspecific tropes I enjoy:
- What if/timeline divergence AUs.
- Spooky/supernatural/monster AUs.
- Enemies to friends (or lovers).
- Identity porn, secret-keeping, anything that prompts a big dramatic reveal somewhere in fic.
- OT3/OTmany.
- Subverted soulmate AUs. Characters go "fuck it" and ignore it for non-soulmate endgame ships? Soulmate marks only happen after you put in the work of building a relationship first? Something else??
- Found families.
- Epistolary fic based on non-letter materials - notes left behind by characters on the corner of something else, newspapers, academic discussions in the "future" about history/"past" characters, etc.
- Casefic.
- Mundane outsider POVs on Weird Shit Characters Do.
Radiant Historia (Perfect Chronology or original)
Character request: Stocke
Things I particularly love about this canon: The groundhog-loop time-travel nature of the plot, and consequences thereof (how many times has Stocke lived through certain things? how many times did Heiss rewind Stocke from death? do either of them ever get confused on which timelines actually happened and which were dreams?). That Stocke is a not-very-sociable/stoic character that prefers to take risks/duties on himself, but doesn't pull the "I MUST NOT MAKE FRIENDS/I WORK ALONE" shtick. (Also, him being a lying liar who lies.) Character relationships as a whole! The self-sacrificial themes, and in the original, the fact that the ultimate threat isn't really a final boss the party can take down. The mood not being gritty-grimdark despite the game having relatively serious themes, letting characters poke fun at each other or have ridiculous time travel shenanigans.
Prompts:
- My pet uncommon ship is Stocke/Garland; if you're down to give that a go, I'd particularly love to see any fic about it set either post-canon or as mild canon divergence while in Cygnus.
- Roleswap AU fic! Make someone else the wielder of the White Chronicle and deal with reactions to that character, especially from Stocke's POV.
- Make up a bad timeline! Play it straight; kick Stocke's ass, have him deal with it.
- Make up a bad timeline! Play it silly; how is this ridiculous thing causing the end of the world, Stocke didn't sign up for this.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
Character request: Yomiel
Things I particularly like about this canon: The quirky, ridiculous nature of this canon's tone, and the way it stands alone with some scenes but isn't isolated from the darker parts of canon! Ghost Trick alternates between plain old silliness and dark humour and I love it. That animals can also obtain the power to perform Ghost Tricks, and the weird ways the game mechanics would translate to a written format rather than a game. The scenes where Yomiel practically breaks the fourth wall, and the identity confusion meeting him causes Sissel - the mood of the Ch 14-Ch 15 transition in general is wonderful, and I'd love to see any fic that could capture the same sense of suspense you get with that or if you fail 15's initial puzzle. On that note, Yomiel being a little shit and a manipulative, dramatic, vindictive disaster before endgame. And, while I listed Yomiel as my character request, I love Sissel's relationships and interactions with the rest of the cast!
Prompts:
- Identity shenanigans post-canon; something makes a recently-dead (again), ghost-powered Yomiel convinced he's the dead kitten he sees nearby on waking up, rather than the human. Unfortunately, something promptly steals "his" body...
- Post-canon; Yomiel's interactions with the cast after he's released, particularly unlikely relationships (ie, not with Sissel, Cabanela, or Jowd). Or, another character's POV on the same!
- Basically any interesting canon divergences you can think of!
- Interactions with animal ghosts!
Derkholm Seres - Diana Wynne Jones
Character request: Callette, Elda (I will be equally happy with a fic starring them both or either of them!)
Things I particularly like about this canon: The interesting way magic is treated - as a mix of solid magical properties (notes from Wermacht's classes being wiped by Lukin's book), improvisation/magical styles, and willpower! It's not really solidly in any of those camps. Similarly, the anachronism of the world what with it being a high-fantasy but having concepts and objects introduced by the Tours (travel to the moon, gizmos...). I love these sorts of contrasts! I like the interactions between Derk's children, and the ones between Elda and her classmates. Oh, and the many, many factions in general, and the ways they bounce off each other!
Prompts:
- Elda's further adventures in magic at the University, post-canon!
- Callette's adventures in art/invention after Dark Lord of Derkholm!
- A fic going more in-depth onto what happened on the other continent!
- Silly family bonding fic where one/several of the Derk family children have to cover for the responsibilities of another one! (Thanks to them being sick, thanks to them being caught up in magic...)
- Speaking of factions and me loving myself some demons - do any of Derk's kids bump into demons again after Year of the Griffin?

DNWs:

Tldr version, my particular squicks: huge life experience gaps where the younger character is or acts like a young child; characters' bodies being described as child-like. As long as these are avoided, I have no issues with fic including stuff like a 17 year old with a 20 year old, two teens, huge life experience or age gaps where all characters are clearly adults, etc.
- Incest.- Character bashing.
- Issue fic.
I love express inclusion of LGBT characters, but don't enjoy fics centering on modern USA-centric discussion of LGBT issues, at least in non-modern/non-Earth-based settings.
Also requesting no fic where characters are a different gender from canon, or there's different usage of pronouns than in canon. Ie, feel free: "she" pronouns and described as female in canon → trans woman in fic; female/male arguably not applicable in canon → nonbinary in fic. Please avoid: "he" pronouns and described as male in canon → trans woman in fic; potentially nonbinary interpretation of canon but "she" pronouns → "they" pronouns in fic; etc.
- Permanent major character death, fics with dark endings. Also requesting no fic where characters are a different gender from canon, or there's different usage of pronouns than in canon.
